This is footage of the Ironman australia win in 2004. This was a tough year for me and a very satisfying race win for me. After failing again in Hawaii many in Australia thought I had lost what it took to win Ironmans and should return to short course racing. They had said that my sprint against Lothar Leder in the Quelle Challenge Race in July of 2003 had killed me and I was done. To add to this my daughter Tahlia was born. The assumption was made that I was not ready metally or physically to win this event for the 3rd consecutive time. Here is the race! The most satisfying of my 5 Wins at Ironman Australia for so many personal reasons. To answer the critics is what inspires me the most.
