Chris McCormack's win at the Ironman Hawaii was his 12th Ironman title and a culmination of a dream he had been chasing since he was 13 years of age. The only event missing from his resume was the Ironman Hawaii crown. He had won every major race in the world, dominated the sport for more than a decade, won World titles and major championship events,  and finally captured his elusive Hawaii title in 2007. He had promised he would and had been vocal for many years that his time would come, he would work the event out. His race the year prior against Norman Stadler is probably one of the most epic battles ever seen at the event and Chris was beaten by 70 seconds. Many critics said he would never do it. He was too big, raced to much or was too impatient for this event.
