Emma's Corner

Hi Everyone. Just a quick blog this time around. Things have been crazy since I last wrote. With winter well and truly arrived here in Sydney, the rain and the cold has kept us inside a lot. Sydney has had so much rain it has been crazy. With two kids at home when it is raining it is tough keeping them occupied. We have managed but it has been tough

Chris had a great race last weekend in Kraichgau Germany. He has been very successful this season and put together a great series of races in europe and prior in Asia and the USA. I think he is well and truly ready for the Ironman in a couple of weeks. He won the Ironman in Germany last year and outside Hawaii this is the biggest Ironman race in the World and the toughest to win. Chris was ecstatic last year when he won Ironman Germany. He had won in Roth and Hawaii and with the Ironman Germany title he had the three jewels of long course racing. The German races are always great to watch, as the sport is enormous in Germany. The girls and I will sit by the computer and watch as much as we can. The time change makes it a late night for us,but we will be watching and cheering from Australia. We Haven't been to the Frankfurt race. I have been numerous times to the Quelle Challenge Roth event. This race is like nothing in the sport. The crowds are enormous and close to 500 000 people line the course. It is amazing.  Chris says the Frankfurt event is the same, so I am sure it is incredible.

We have some beautiful photos of Tahlia and myself from the Quelle Challenge Roth event when Chris won for the 2nd time. Sienna has also been to support her father at this race. This is a wonderful event in the town of Roth and one of the oldest Triathlon races in the World. It is actually the course that holds the Ironman World record and all the biggest names in triathlon have raced here. We had a great time over the years here in Roth and Chris was very successful at this event winning it 4 times and breaking 8 hours on three occassions. We have some very close friends now that live in Germany and one of our best friends Susann Kraeftner lives in Wiesbaden. Susann is wonderful with our family and is our first point of contact whenever we arrive in Europe. The girls absolutely love her. She owns the company Biestmilch who is a sponsor of Chris.

Sienna has been keeping me very busy. Both our girls have had very bad ears since the day they were born. They have issues with the draining in the ears so come winter time and the sicknesses that go around, once they catch anything their ears give them incredible grief. Tahlia thankfully is getting over it and ear infections are far and few between. Sienna is not so Lucky. We spend a lot of time at the doctors and with the ear specialists. In fact we are on our way to see a Specialist again tomorrow. The poor thing has a constant discharge flowing out of her right ear. She is a tough thing and doesn't complain much, but it can make her quite sick. She has had tubes in her ears, 3 times already in her short life, and the doctor says he has never seen anything like it. So the poor thing will stay on the antibiotics till we work out what is next. Anyway fingers crossed we will get answers tomorrow and we can put these ear infections behind us.

With all this going on we have a few things to look forward to. We will head to the snow as soon as Chris gets back from Europe, for a week. The girls have been to the snow a few times but have never skied. So Tahlia will go to Ski School and learn to ski. It will be so much fun for them and they are so excited. I will ski as well, and Chris and Sienna will be hanging out. Chris will sit this ski trip out. He will come to the snow but no skiing for him. It is too close to Kona and the last thing he needs is to hurt himself. Sienna is too young to join into the ski School but I am sure they will have a ball anyway.  She loves hanging with her father so they will probably build snowmen and play together. We are going with our close friends Jason and Fiona and there two boys. The kids have so much fun together. I am sure there will be a few late night with a lot of karaoke. Chris and Jason love to get up and sing a few tunes. It will be great and always a laugh.

After the snow, we will drive quickly back to Sydney and out to the airport. We are flying out to Singapore where Chris will be hosting a Triathlon Training camp in Asia. Chris does a lot of these corporate training camps and he is constantly being contacted to put together training seminars or camps around the world. He has done these in South America, Europe, USA and now in Asia. It will be a great chance for us to have some time in the sun, and Chris to do what he loves, which is helping others learn more about how he has achieved what he has and his methods of training and planning. We will spend a little over a week in Singapore and go to the Zoo and relax as a family. Chris will then begin his build for Kona which is his primary focus this year.

So that's our plans for the next few weeks. The girls have Disney on Ice in July which is all that is being talked about at the moment in our house. We are taking them to see this in Sydney. Our girls live for Princesses and Disney so this is the big talk in the McCormack household at the moment. Tahlia just loves it, and Sienna follows along with whatever her sister loves. It will be a lovely night. We have so much to look forward to and the next 6 weeks will be lovely together.
